Because a site is listed here does not necessarily mean there is public access (unfortunately) to it. These sites have been listed from previous publications, some updated with photos I have taken and other items scanned from public domain publications. Since it can change at the drop of a hat, I have taken NO effort to publish access information. Maps are provided to explain where each site is. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that you are on public lands or get permission.
Many areas of geological interest have been made inaccessible by landowners who either had bad experiences with inconsiderate visitors or fear liability for any injuries suffered by visitors. It's sad that this fear of liability has even made writers and agencies afraid to publish the locations of these areas.
Despite ownership, the sites listed here are important geological sites that can educate and inspire.
